Online entries will remain open until all available maps have been allocated; however there are only a maximum of 8 Long, 12 Medium and 9 Short course maps either for entry on the night or online... these figures will not be updated as participants enter, so pre-enter online now before they are all gone.   Pre-enter HERE

Start times have been extended to enable adults to shadow juniors on the Short course prior to having their own run.

There will be very limited entry on the day and therefore maps will be available on a 1st-come-1st-served basis - arrive early if you want one.

 

Directions

Follow the brown road signs to Culbin Forest via Kintessack from the A96. The event will be signed from the village of Kintessack.

Safety Information

  • All Competitors take part at their own risk and a choose a course that matches their experience and fitness (under 14s must run with an adult unless they have proven competence at night orienteering - parents please discuss with us at registration if in doubt).
  • You MUST report to Download by Course Closing Time
  • Make sure your head torch is fully charged. We recommend carrying an emergency spare!
  • Tree felling work will be taking place in Culbin between early January and the end of February. As a result access to some areas of the forest and forest roads may be affected during this period. Courses have been designed to avoid these areas however, if you find yourself in one of the affected areas please follow any signage encountered.
  • Please note that the Tower at Hill 99 Viewpoint will be closed for essential maintenance from 16th to 19th January 2018, once again there should be no need to approach the tower on any of the courses, but if you do come across any temporary fencing please do not climb or access any of these areas.

Start and Finish Information

Punching starts.  Start times are not pre-allocated.  The Start is an easy 600m walk down a wide flat track and the Finish is close to Assembly which will be in the Car Park.

Long (4.4 km at TD5)

Medium (3.4 km at TD5)

Short (2.4 km at TD3)

Map scale is 1:10,000 for the Long and Medium courses and 1:7,500 for the Short; contour interval 2.5m for all.
