This event is event No 7 in our Saturday League and the Moray & Nairn Schools League.

Thanks to all of you who signed up via the Survey Monkey poll. 140 entries (70 on each course) is way more then we've ever had before so thanks for your interest. How amazing! As a result of the poll we've ordered extra maps (90 for each course) - we would have run out long ago if we'd gone by previous attendances. With so many people coming there will be queues at registration (you will still need to fill in an entry slip). Please be patient and be nice to the hard-working event staff who won't be used to dealing with this volume of people.

Event parking is at Forres Academy car park with registration adjacent from 1015 am. Start and finish nearby.

One of our junior members, Kirsty Anderson, will have a refreshment stall to help raise funds for a musical theatre course she hopes to attend.

Courses available:
Short Course (2 Km approx) - ideal for beginners and kids mainly using woodland prths and tracks
Long Course (4 m approx) - for more confident map readers with pletny "cross-country" route options

The approximate to orienteering "yellow" (technical difficulty 2) and "light green" (tech difficulty 4) standard

Schools League competitors can run on either course, but secondary and primary pupils will be scored separately. See the 'Leagues' menu for schools competition information.

If you're running for your school, please register as an individual, but you're welcome to run with a friend and help each other out as you go. For groups of 3 or more running together, only 2 individual times can count for your school team score. This is to make it fair for the majority of more experienced juniors who do the course on their own or as pairs. It's the best 4 times that count for the Schools League - you can see the full rules and information HERE.

Previews and post-event reports for all our events appear in the local press. We post most of them in our press album on Facebook, so why not take a look?

Event Prices

Adults £5, juniors (U21) £4.

£1 discount to members of any orienteering club.

£1 extra discount to anyone who brings their own timing chip.

Adults shadowing juniors only need pay for the junior entry. We rely on adults to let the kids do most of the navigation themselves. If you are doing all the navigation for them (ie they're chasing you round the course), please let us know at registration so we can note you down as "non competitive" or register you as an adult.

We encourage adult "shadowers" to help out if you see your children going obviously, wrong or getting stuck, but please wait for them to ask you for help before stepping in. That's all part of the learning process and helps build their self-confidence. This also makes it fair for the children that do the course all by themselves.
