Dark running!

This is an opportunity to try your course from Sunday again, or a different course, or just get used to navigating in the dark.  There will be no timing equipment and probably no flags.  

The training is infomal and it is up to you what you do.  There will be coaches and/or experienced club members there to give advice or go with you. Please contact Ali Wiseman (couttsie29 'at' if you would like  to work on something in particular, we will try to match you up with help.

Under 16s and  inexperienced 16-18 yr olds must be accompanied by an adult (Juniors at NNC events can run on their own from 14 years but there are flags out!)

Spare maps will be available but bring your own if you have one.

The Northern Night Cup series of events are held on Wednedsays through the winter... see and the British Night Champs are coming to Deeside in start practising now!

Safety Information

All partcipants should come prepared for poor weather and exposed conditions.

Bring a good head torch, plus a spare. 

Please carry a whistle and a mobile phone in your pocket, leave your number with us and make sure you have someone else's number who is there.

Sign the sign out /in sheet.

The difficulty of night orienteering should not be underestimated... but its also great fun and is excellent for honing your navigation skills.  If you are inexperienced in the dark, start short, slow and easy.

Please ask if you would like someone to go out with you.

Previews and post-event reports for all our events appear in the local press. We often take photos at events that may be used in the press, but will not name anyone under 18 without parental consent. You can see previous press reports in our press album on Facebook.

Event Prices


Club membership costs £18 for seniors and just £3.30 for juniors (under 21). It entitles you to £1 off your entry fee for  Moravian events, and most events organized by other clubs. If you'd like to become a member, please click HERE - your membership will be valid until the end of 2018.

Please note that non-members of an orienteering club are only covered under our insurance for 3 events.
