Terrain Description

Roseisle, like its neighbours Culbin and Lossiemouth, was planted between the wars to stabalise shifting sand dunes; the resulting open pine forest on complex topography is perfect for orienteering.  The event is at the less- frequently used (for orienteering) end of the forest, which contains the most physically and technically challenging terrain.  The biggest and steepest dunes are in the coastal strip while futher inalnd there ares areas of lower visibility forest containing smaller dues and knolls.

Please be aware that there may be some debris from old fires remaining in some of the small depressions near the beach area, this could include wire, nails etc.

Please be aware that some of the features are not marked on the map

  • Overhead powerlines
  • Playground equipment in the playing fields
