You must report to download after your run, even if you do not complete the course.

Nearest Toilets

Toilets are available in the hall.

Start and Finish Information

The start and finish points are a short walk from registration and are close together.  This involves crossing the village of Conicavel on grass and crossing two roads.  Please take care and follow the tapes and marshals.  Clothing may be left near the start area for collection after your run.
As of friday lunchtime there are still icy patches on the route to the start (woodyard) and on some of the forest tracks where there is no sunlight! Please take extra care in these areas.
Loose control descriptions will be available at the start. Yellow course runners should collect their maps at registration. Blank maps will be on display at the start.

Event Safety Information

All competitors take part at their own risk and choose a course that matches their experience and fitness.  It is advisable to wear full leg cover, suitable footwear and to hydrate before run.

The area is popular with dog walkers and horse riders.  Please respect the riders’ wishes so as not to alarm the horses.

There may be faecal matter from dogs present along the tracks, presenting a possible health hazard to those who come in to contact with it.  Please take care, especially if you have young children with you.

Should a competitor get completely lost, the safety bearing is to head WEST.  This bearing will lead them either to tracks, the road or to field boundaries, which will guide them to return to the Start and Finish at Conicavel.

Do not climb on the piles of wood.

The paths can be slippery, with roots and rocks protruding in places.  Please take care.

Ticks may be present in the area, please check yourself after the event.

Whistles are advised.

The GB squad will start from 11:30 start time, so we will fit in around them.  A Middle Distance Course is planned to an estimated winning time of 35 mins for an Elite Orienteer; so think of it as a Green/Short Blue for most of us.

Information for parents "shadowing" junior runners

Adults shadowing juniors only need pay for the junior entry. Please allow your son/daughter to do most of the navigation themselves. If you are doing all the navigation for them (ie they're chasing you round the course), please let us know at registration so we can note you down as "non competitive" or register you as an adult.

We encourage adult "shadowers" to help out if you see your children going obviously, wrong or getting stuck, but please wait for them to ask you for help before stepping in. That's all part of the learning process and helps build their self-confidence. This also makes it fair for the children that do the course all by themselves. Thank you.
