The Moray Saturday and Schools League resumes! This is a joint project with Buckie High School staff and pupils supported by Active Schools Co-Ordinator Tim Walters.

Registration is at the Swimming Pool  which has a sauna and steam room for you to relax in after your run. The school has been invited to serve refreshments as a fund raiser but it doesn't look like this will be happening as originally planned. Tim Walters (Active Schools) is investigating other means of providing teas/coffees so bring some spare cash as Tim has a habit of making these sort of things happen when he gets these ideas.

If you like car boot sales, you'll be mightily pleased to hear there's one next door at Cluny Primary School from 10-12. Orienteers on the Long Course please plan to go round the sales tables and not over them if your route to no 12 goes that way!

We are expecting the Banffshire Advertiser to be there so wear your best make up.

Courses available:
As usual, there will be a short (Yellow-standard) course plus a longer course with a likely winning time of about 25 minutes. The terrain is fast and easy, so regular orienteers should prepare to practice fast-paced decision making and lightning-quick "flow" through the controls. There are some definite route choice conundrums on the long course. Technically simple events like this one can provide great race technique training if you approach them with the right attitude - you should be thinking about saving seconds rather than minutes by fast decision making and good technique. If you're new to orienteering and running with a map you can be confident that the navigation won't be too much of a problem and you should find the event enjoyable and within your capabilities.

Courses available:

Long (4.8 Km)

Short (2.3 Km)

Short course maps will be handed out at registration for you to study before you run. Long course maps will be handed out after the start for all those competing in the Moravian Club League. Other runners may look at them before they start because we're nice like that. All maps will have pictorial control descriptions, but there will be loose written versions available at registration as well.

Schools League competitors can run on either course, but secondary and primary pupils will be scored separately. See the 'Leagues' menu for schools competiton information which has been updated for 2013.

This will make excellent practice for schools taking part in the Moray Schools Festival at Gordonstoun on Thursday 3rd October.
