Joining the British Orienteering Federation (BOF)
If you know about BOF and the SOA you might want to go straight to the BOF web site. If you need a bit of explanation about the membership system explaining then please read on.........
Our membership system, like most other clubs, is handled by British Orienteering. When you join, you become a member of British Orienteering (the national governing body) and also the Scottish Orienteering Association (our regional association that looks after development of orienteering in Scotland).
You can join as a Junior or Senior member or create a Family membership.
If you intend to go to events outside Scotland and compete in major championships, it pays to be a National member. If you just want to orienteer within Scotland, local membership is fine. Local membership is free for the first year and you can always upgrade later on if you decide to compete further afield.
Your membership will be valid until the end of the year that you join, if you join late in the year that gets extended to the end of the following year. Once you've joined you'll get a membership card through the post. This will have your 'BOF' number on it. You will need this to create a Moravian member's account on our website.
If you've any questions, either ask someone who looks as if they know what they're doing at any of our events; or use the web site Contact Us page to get in touch.
So to get started please go to the British Orienteering website membership section here and follow the prompts. Just make sure when asked to select your club you choose MOR and then select SOA as your association.
Any RAF members should also join the RAF Orienteering Association as a 2nd club. To join RAFO, go to www.rafo.org.uk and contact the membership secretary via their 'contact us' link.
